This is maybe one of the most beautiful sights that I have seen so far in Scotland. The Devil's Puplit.<br />
<br />
It is a slight hidden gem. Tucked away in a 100ft deep gorge in Finnich Glen, you would have no idea it was there unless you were purposefully looking for it.<br />
<br />
It is such a find. Incredibly beautiful. <br />

The main entrance into the gorge - the steep steps aka Jacob's Ladder
(the last picture)- brings you out onto the main plateau which is of
course, absolutely stunning. To make the most of your visit though,
you'll have to get your feet wet (if it's good weather and it's safe, of
course).<br />

We started at the very end of the gorge - where it opens out into fields - and walked
through the river to find the main plateau (which gives you the views of the waterfalls), before exiting via Jacob's
Ladder. Even though it was a hot day, my feet and legs were still
freezing! Totally worth it though. <br />

The beginning of the treacherous steps in/out of the gorge. The don't look that bad here but believe me, once you turn the corner they are very steep and very uneven. Be careful!<br />

Who likes cloves? I certainly do not. I had a bad experience with clove oil when I had a problem with my wisdom teeth and it has made me hate it ever since. </div>

Nonetheless, I used the tiniest amount of clove in the pie crust of this pumpkin pie. Hence the name 'spicy' pumpkin pie. To be honest, next time I make this pie, I will be leaving out the clove. Although it's only 1/4 tsp [the recipe actually calls for 3/4 tsp but I used less cause I knew I didn't like it], even that was too much. </div>

It wasn't bad, per say. It was still really nice! But unless you like the spiciness of cloves, I'd leave it out. My sister couldn't eat the crust - she only ate the filling - and my boyfriend wasn't really a fan but I liked it!</div>

<li>To make the pastry, grease a 23-cm/9-inch round pie plate with butter. Sift the flour and baking powder in a bowl. Stir in the spices and caster sugar. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs, then make a well in the centre. Beat the egg and pour in. Mix together with a spoon, then use your hands to shape the dough into a ball.</li>
<li>Place the dough on a clean work surface lightly dusted with flour, and roll out to a round large enough to line the pie dish. Use it to line the dish, then trim the edge. Cover the dish with clingfilm and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. </li>

And it's all so easy to make! I completely forgot to take a picture of the shortbread but you just mix everything together, press it down into the tin and then bake for 25 minutes. [I'll put the full recipe at the bottom of this post]. Next, make the caramel. </div>

<b>1.</b> Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas Mark 4. Grease and line the base of a 23cm/9-inch shallow square cake tin.</div>

<b>2.</b> Place the butter, flour and sugar in a food processor and process until it begins to bind together. Press the mixture into the prepared tin and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden. </div>

<b>3.</b> Meanwhile, make the filling. Place the butter, sugar, golden syrup and condensed milk in a saucepan and heat gently until the sufar has dissolved. Bring to the boil and simmer for 6-8 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes very thick. Pour over the shortbread base and leave to chill in the refrigerator until firm. </div>

<b>4.</b> To make the topping, melt the chocolate and leave to cool, then spread over the caramel. Chill in the refrigerator until set. Cut the shortbread into 12 pieces with a sharp knife and serve. </div>

I originally saw this dish whilst watching an episode of <i>Nigel Slater's Dish of the Day</i>, and thought it looked absolutely delicious. His recipe required slightly more work though and it used pork ribs instead of beef. I couldn't find any decent pork ribs in my local Morrisons, and to be honest, if I can find a slow cooker version of a dish, I'm going to use that recipe. It's just so much easier to put everything in a pot and let it slowly simmer for hours on end, getting incredibly tender, whilst you're out doing other things. </div>

Not gonna lie, I actually hate beer. But according to a 'beer expert', Innis & Gunn do good beer! If you're like me and think that all beer tastes like dirty water though, this place does really nice flavoured ciders too! </div>

I would never normally choose a hot dog at a restaurant but for some reason, I was really craving one this night. Probably because I had come straight from an oral assessment so I was stressed out of my mind and not thinking straight. And good thing too, because this hot dog was incredible. </div>

I know, I know. What can be so great about a hot dog? And to be honest, I don't know. But something about this hot dog was fantastic. It was actually one of the best hot dogs I have ever had. And plus it was topped with cheese and bacon, so you can't really go wrong with that. Not gonna lie, £11 is pretty expensive for a hot dog but if you're going to spend money on something, it might as well be this!</div>

And their slow cooked chicken bhuna. Boy, oh boy. It was good. And so much chicken! Normally you get a curry and there's maybe 4 cubes of chicken in there but this had so much shredded chicken in it! It was actually a proper chicken curry. Not just mostly curry sauce and some bits of chicken floating in there. The only thing was, it was incredibly spicy. I mean, maybe my tolerance is really low but I couldn't eat much of it. Before my mouth burnt, it tasted great though! </div>

If you're a beer lover, you're going to love this place. You can see all the brewing equipment and they have such a choice of unique beers that they obviously make themselves and the bar staff really know their stuff. Obviously the food was really good so I enjoyed it, but I feel like you can only truely appreciate this place if you're a beer lover yourself or you go with one so you can watch them geek out over it. </div>

I spent the Christmas period in Houston with a short trip to Lake Tahoe in California for a rather unfortunate attempt at skiing. Long story short, I fell under the ski lift after about half an hour skiing, hurt my knee and didn't ski again. Great first attempt! I then spent New Years back in Ayr in Scotland with the whole family. </div>

Guess who got a £15 tip at work recently? That's right, me! Well, to be fair, the waitresses in the VIP area I was in were the ones who actually made the tips... but we split all the tips evenly at my work so my sub-par bar skills got something out of it too! </div>

And what did I do with these amazing tips, you ask? I splurged at Morrisons! 3 for £10 meats and the remaining £5 I spent on butter to make banana bread and coconut milk and potatoes to made massman beef curry! [I already had the massman curry paste at home]. </div>

<u>Ingredients</u>:</div>

100g unsalted butter</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
225g digestive biscuits, crushed</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5 limes</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 large egg yolks</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
400g can condensed milk</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<u>Method</u>:</div>
<ol style="text-align: center;">
<li>Preheat the oven to 180C. Melt the butter. Add the melted butter to the crushed digestive biscuits and mix until well combined. Tip the mixture into a 23cm loose-bottomed tart tin and press the crumbs in evenly and firmly into the base and sides of the tin. Bake for 5-10 minutes.</li>
<li>Place the egg yolks and the zest of 3 limes into a bowl and whisk with an electric whisk until the egg has thickened. </li>
<li>Pour in the condensed milk and continue whisking for another 5 minutes. Add the lime juice and whisk again. </li>
<li>Pour the mixture into the tin and bake for 15-20 minutes or until set but still with a wobble in the centre.</li>
<li>Let the pie cool completely before eating. Serve with cream if you want.</li>

I could never quite decide what was better: the biscuits from Red Lobster or the breadsticks from Olive Garden. Both are ridiculously addictive. You could easily fill up on these bread baskets before you even get your meal. I made my biscuits alongside a salmon caesar salad. Just some little gem lettuce chopped up with some cucumber, croutons, parmesan shavings and caesar salad dressing and a salmon fillet on top, which I baked in the oven from frozen for 20 minutes and lightly seasoned with salt and pepper.</div>

It was a great meal. I always buy my salmon frozen because you can get a bag of about 5 good-sized salmon fillets for £3 in Morrisons or Lidl which is so much cheaper than buying it in the fish section, and it's still really good quality! And don't worry, those white bits that come out on salmon when you cook them isn't fat, it's just protein and it's perfectly okay to eat. </div>

Because the batter was so dense, it was really frustrating to work with as well. Trying to scrap it into the cake tins and level it out was hard work. You had to use your fingers and spatula to try and get it to the edges of the tin so it was really messy and the baking parchment was sliding around and after doing that 6 times you kind of just want to give up and cry. My kitchen is tiny as well so I kept on having to move between the counter tops and the floor to give myself enough space to make the micture and then put it into the tins and spread it out so my back was killing by the end of it!</div>

I did have a bit of trouble with the icing though. [I always do]. I didn't have as much icing sugar as I thought I did so I didn't end up with the amount of icing that is needed to fill and cover the whole cake. It left it with a 'naked' look where it isn't all properly covered. I'm just going to say I was going with the whole 'naked cake' trend though. Two cake trends in one! However, I normally hate icing because it's too sweet for me but I looooved this one. It was made with cream cheese instead of butter so it tasted like cheesecake which is my favourite type of cake. Saying that, I did add some butter in because the comments on the recipe said that the icing doesn't work without some butter in it. </div>

I cooked two chicken breasts in the oven after covering them in some fajita spices but to make this dish even easier, you could just buy a rotisserie chicken so it's already cooked and then just shred it. </div>

Not that you need a side. The first time I made these, I made 3 each for Ashleigh and I and we were so full we couldn't eat our third ones. A while ago I was really craving lemon chicken and thought I'd give it a shot. It didn't turn out as well as I thought it would... but it was still delicious. The recipe calls for you to fry the chicken in batches so they all individually get really crisp but I couldn't be bothered to do that so I just dumped all the chicken into the pan at once. Bad idea. All the chicken clumped together so as I separated them, all the batter came off and they ended up pretty much batter-less. Which was unfortunate. </div>

I also realised that I probably shouldn't have used all the sauce that the recipe makes. I ended up pretty much drowning my chicken in it, when really it's just supposed to cover it slightly so it makes it sticky and gooey. Having the batter on the chicken probably would have helped with that problem.</div>

My attempt looks a bit dodgy and not nearly as professional as the one in the recipe [this is it pre-baked by the way], but I do have an excuse for that! Other than it being quite tricky to twist the filled puff pastry, the pastry used in the recipe is circularly shaped whereas the puff pastry we had was rectangular. I could have cut it into a circle to begin with but it would have ended up being tiny which we didn't want, so I tried to work with the shape I had. It was quite pernickety and I ended up with different length 'snowflakes'. But it was definitely worth it. </div>

I've started a job with Levy Restaurants, so I'm working at the SECC/Hydro/Armadillo in hospitality, doing anything from barista work to bar work to setting up events etc. I'm liking it so far! Not only is she absolutely gorgeous but she is also so alert for a newborn! Constantly looking around and turning her head and engaging with people/sights/sounds. And she does not cry! I think I heard her cry for about 5 minutes in total the entire weekend. As long as she's being held she's as content as can be.</div>

Not only was this really yummy and healthy [only 213 calories!!] but it was also really easy and quick to make. Took about 5 minutes to prep and then you just leave it to cook for half an hour. Perfect!</div>

I think the hardest part about this dish was peeling the potatoes. I don't know how I do it but I obviously do it wrong because I always end up with grazes on my hands from the peeler... Clearly have to take a lesson in potato-peeling!</div>

The thing I loved most about this meal was how all the spices made it so warming. The garam masala, cumin and curry powder didn't make it spicy, per-se, but it created a really nice warmth in my mouth that was perfect for a cold day. </div>

I feel like these pictures paint a very un-appetizing picture... But it was actually really good! Once it managed to cook. <a href="http://cleaneatsfastfeets.com/2013/02/26/broccoli-cheddar-quiche/" target="_blank">The recipe</a> calls for it to be baked for 40 minutes but this was in the oven for a few good hours and it still was really liquidy! </div>

But once it was baked through, it was great! The recipe also has its own pastry recipe within it so you can make the entire thing from scratch which is always a good way to impress people! </div>

I think next time I make this I'll add in some feta or goats cheese to give it more of an intense flavour. And also use the right sized pastry tin!</div>

It was this white chocolate cheesecake. I think basically it's the pie tin. Everything I make in there comes out really well and I love the ridges around the edge. I just think it looks so professional. In place of the oatcake biscuits that the recipe called for, I used shortbread. This was Ashleigh's suggestion actually. Actually the entire dessert was her suggestion - she said she wanted a white chocolate cheesecake and I felt like baking so it gave me a great excuse.</div>

The recipe suggests serving it with a rhubarb compote. Well I absolutely hate rhubarb so I did not do that. You could of course use any fruit you want like raspberries or strawberries but I couldn't be bothered to make any type of compote cause I'm really lazy. </div>

You do need something tart to cut through the richness of the cheesecake however cause it is very rich. I started feeling sick after starting my second slice. I had a brainwave, however. We had jam in the fridge and that's basically compote, right? So I added some strawberry jam to my cheesecake :) </div>

Unfortunately this jam was pretty sweet itself so that didn't really help that much... But if you have any tart jam/marmalade floating around in the fridge and you can't be bothered to make your own compote, throw it right on the cheesecake! It will work!</div>

It's really good and is so, so easy to make. Cook some pasta, cut some onions and cucumbers [and tomatoes and olives if you're using them], crumble some feta and make the world's easiest vinaigrette and then you're done! It's also healthy! I'm pretty sure...</div>

Such a good one to make if you're back in from a busy and long day and you can't be bothered to cook a big meal or you don't want to order a takeaway. I guess the idea of having potato in a dessert isn't really appealing... but sweet potatoes are so 'sweet' [funnily enough] and go so well with cinnamon and other spices that it really works. <br />

This morning however, I decided to get my butt back to the gym after not going for ages and instead of just running, which I normally do, I thought I'd do some toning exercises as well. I remembered that I had bookmarked one of their posts on '<a href="http://frame.bloglovin.com/?post=5051082859&blog=22471&frame_type=feed" target="_blank">3 Simple Exercises That Will Give You Sexy, Sculpted Arms</a>', so I thought I'd give that a go!</div>

You know that trick where someone puts their hands inside yours and pushes against you as hard as they can, as you push back against them for 30 seconds and when the time is over it feels like there's an invisible ball in yours hands because you can't push your hands together? It's something to do with your muscles tightening and then taking a while to get back to the relaxed stage but anyway, it's a weird sensation. Yeah, after doing these arm exercises I went for a shower and I couldn't lift my arms properly to wash my hair because it felt like something was pushing them down like an invisible weight or something. That's how effective these exercises are! They kill your arms afterwards! Might not sound very pleasant but at least it means they're effective!</div>

Basically you do a bicep curl and overhead press for 20 reps, downward dog into cobra pose for 15 reps, and then lateral and forward raises for 15 reps.
